Tafheem-ul-Quran (En) - At-Tawba : 114
وَ مَا كَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ اِبْرٰهِیْمَ لِاَبِیْهِ اِلَّا عَنْ مَّوْعِدَةٍ وَّعَدَهَاۤ اِیَّاهُ١ۚ فَلَمَّا تَبَیَّنَ لَهٗۤ اَنَّهٗ عَدُوٌّ لِّلّٰهِ تَبَرَّاَ مِنْهُ١ؕ اِنَّ اِبْرٰهِیْمَ لَاَوَّاهٌ حَلِیْمٌ
And Abraham's prayer for the forgiveness of his father was only because of a promise, which he had made to him. Then, when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of Allah he dissociated himself from him. Surely Abraham was most tenderhearted, much-forbearing.
